Facebook NYC has invited the local VetsinTech chapter to a special evening of “Vetworking Tech Tales.”  VetWorking Tales will provide a platform for veterans to share experiences about transitioning from the military into the tech industry.  This is a one-night-only happy hour and open mic night exclusively for vets and allies. Purpose is to build new connections in New York with those who can relate to our experiences.

The event centers on an open mic session for speakers.  As an audience member, you’ll hear from vets who’ve dealt with both unique and familiar scenarios. There’s no obligation to speak, but if you have a story or opportunities/resources to share, you can sign up in advance or when you arrive at the event.

Rules Of Engagement for prosepctive speakers:  

* Strict adherence to 5 minutes to tell your story about making the transition from the military to the tech industry.
* Talk about anything as it relates to the experience of transitioning, as long as it is relevant to both a military background and working in the tech space.
* Sign up in advance of the event or in person at the start of the night.
* No slides or presentations needed — just you and your story.
* Feel free to read from a written version of your story, or to speak from the heart as you take the mic.
