Doug Beck is the former Director of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), where he led efforts to accelerate the Department of Defense's adoption of commercial technology and advised senior defense leadership on strategic innovation and competition.
Previously, Doug spent over a decade as a Vice President at Apple, reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook and leading business development, sales, and purpose-driven initiatives across global regions including Northeast Asia and the Americas.
He has also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Charles Schwab and as a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he co-led the firm's global strategy practice while based in Asia.
A U.S. Navy Reserve Captain, Doug deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan with a joint special operations task force and has held multiple leadership roles across the Indo-Pacific region. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Presidential Unit Citation.
Doug holds degrees from Yale University and Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He serves on the board of the Center for a New American Security and is a Trustee of the Rhodes Trust.
